Production and Installation

The AREVA Wind M5000 is produced directly at Bremerhaven's quayside. In that way ideal preconditions for the transport to the offshore wind farms have been created. An in-house team of experienced technicians installs all components of the nacelle and the hub, including the sensitive components of the drive train. Thus AREVA Wind is capable to secure a persistent quality standard throughout the production process.

The AREVA Wind M5000 is concipated in such a way that for the installation at the offshore-site only the smallest possible number of installation steps is required. Besides the erection of the tower, just the same as it is with plants of previous generations, only nacelle and rotor have to be mounted. The converter system, transformer and switch gear are already installed on the tower 'ready-for-operation' in order to reduce the installation risk at the offshore location to a minimum.

SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE

In order to take account for the weather related reduced accessibility of the offshore location, particular attention has been paid to long service intervals. The use of maintenance intensive components has been avoided wherever possible. Where regular inspections are required, as e.g. in filter units, maintenance cycles were considerably increased by the dimensioning of these parts and redundancies.

The plant's condition can be checked at all times on account of the complete monitoring of all turbine parts that are indispensable for operation. By this measure repairs on the high seas may be planned on a long term basis and compiled for most efficient deployments.
